How The Scheme Works
Shared Boat Ownership
RIB Shack Marine believe in keeping it simple! Customers purchase a 25% share in their chosen boat and therefore each of our boats has four equal owners.
All owners have access to their boats for 13 weeks of the year giving each owner a minimum of 1 week in every 4.
Whilst contractually every owner is guaranteed their boat for 1 week in 4, the owners regularly enter into week / weekend swapping arrangements with other owners, all of which is managed by RIB Shack Marine. In addition, we regularly have owners calling up to check availability of boats outside of their schedules and in nearly all cases we find a boat that is available within the fleet.
It really works – just ask our owners!
Boat Management Services
As a member of our shared boat ownership scheme RIB Shack Marine provide you with a full and comprehensive boat management programme.
Your boat will be cleaned, fuelled and checked each time before you use it, thus freeing you to enjoy your investment with complete peace of mind from the moment you arrive at your boat to the moment you leave.
The management agreement is for a minimum period of 3 years, after which the boat or your share in the boat is sold and the net proceeds paid back to the owner(s).
The management programme includes:
- Complete boat management including dry stacking / berthing, engine servicing, full insurance cover, cleaning and refuelling service.
- MDL Freedom berthing available to all customers.
- Use of MDL facilities at all their marina's eg. cafe, pub, restaurant, showers, toilet block, launderette, unlimited wi-fi, chandlery shops etc.
- Sea Start marine breakdown assistance
- Unlimited lifts at MDL dry stack, Saxon Wharf Southampton
- Low monthly management payments
In addition, any special requirements, like delivery and collection to a holiday destination can also be taken care of efficiently and economically.
Having chosen your boat, the only thing left to decide is your home base location!
RIB Shack Marine operate predominantly in the Solent area. To maximise your usage we can offer home bases from Hayling Island, Hamble, Southampton, Hythe, Lymington, and Poole.
We do have a few customers who operate their boats from alternative locations ie. Salcombe, Dartmouth and Falmouth Bay, purely to satisfy holiday requirements. Whilst they only use their boats for 2 weeks a year they still joined our scheme because of its cost effectiveness and ease.
RIB Shack Marine take your enjoyment and safety very seriously, which is why every new member buying a new share in a RIB receives a training course within the first few weeks of ownership of their new boat.
Training is carried out by an RYA approved training centre offering the RYA Level 2 Powerboat course.
In addition to boat handling and navigation, training also includes basic training on the use of electronic equipment on board. This gives owners the confidence and skills to enjoy their boat to the full and give their friends and family a safe and enjoyable experience when they go out.
For the Axopar Owners bespoke training based on experience is required.
In order to use the VHF radio on board the boat, Owners will need to hold a VHF licence.
